As with the Q-Forcer, I tried to get decent results aiming both at that good old nostalgia sensation, as well as realtively high detail. Other than with the Q-Forcer, I really made an effort to get the animations right, and made a more critical approach to modelling, skinning and animating. Although satisfyingly succesful for any use it will see, the project finally left me with the feeling that the limits of the Q3A development environment are annoyingly limiting. Certainly, I've always noticed the technical limitations, but as the level of detail increases, so does the aesthetic grounds for more realism and flexibility in animations.
Nevertheless, it was fun to make this model, and perhaps I will do something like this again. It was a good way to get to grips with 3d Studio Max 8, which I only recently switched to, and once again to train those creative amateur game graphics skills.
You can download the model, with sounds and everything for Q3 here.
